Giving Back
Wild Tree is committed to giving back to our community. Our non-profit program Food from the Heart provides organic groceries to low-income women with cancer living in Chicagoland. We believe in the quote by Hippocrates, "Let your food be your medicine, and your medicine be your food," and are proud to offer healthy, organic foods to community members in the healing process. Our partner organization, Heartwood Center for Body Mind Spirit first initiated the Women and Cancer program by providing wellness services to participants at their holistic health center in downtown Evanston.
Consider how you would feel if you were suddenly diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer at 35-years-old. You suddenly are unable to work, go on disability and have strict dietary needs. You are on a very tight budget and discover that food stamps don't stretch far enough. Wouldn't you welcome community help to overcome your illness through organic nutrition and alternative healing modalities?
Wild Tree Sustainable Catering gives a percentage of proceeds to the Food from the Heart fund. Private donations are gratefully accepted and will directly help women, who are undergoing chemotherapy and radiation, to eat a more healthy diet. Let's share the resources we have and increase the chances that these women will recover from their illness.
